A molecular gastronomic cocktail served at yet another ‘future of food’ event last week in Amsterdam

The next two days I’ll be venturing even farther into the Polar Circle to speak at the Poker Club and visit the Six Cities Design Festival. I’ll be speaking with Dr. Peter Barham (who will hopefully not be offended if I describe him as a British Harold McGee) on the Future of Food.

By the way, that’s poker for poking a fire and wagging a finger and not poker for gambaleering although one of the evening’s sponsors produces single malt scotch. Fill’er up!

• Here’s the event blurb, you will notice many friends in the lineup:
  During the Scottish Enlightment, thinkers gathered in Edinburgh to discuss big ideas over a glass of claret at the original Poker Club (which refers to a fireplace poker for ’stirring things up’). New Media Scotland is resurrecting the name to hold a series of events, three of which will be held as part of the Six Cities Design Festival:
  Future Food with Dr Peter Barham and Debra Solomon (21st May)
  Future City with Giles Lane and Constance Fleuriot (22nd May)
  and
  Future Body with Adam Zaretsky and Regine Debatty (29th May).
